VENOM ADOPTED

VENOM AND HIS NEW FAM ARE A PERFECT FIT! After spending weeks weeding through hundreds of applications and holding multiple meet and greets, there was no doubt in our minds when Venom met the Lorenzana family that they were the one. He took to them immediately, rolling over for belly rubs, giving kisses and showing them his soccer ball. Thankfully they were equally as smitten with him! After learning Venom’s training from our friends @nobullrehab they took Venom home where we hear he’s been the world’s worst workout partner and best swim buddy ever since!!!

A BIG WELCOME to LOVELY LUNA

This 6 year old dumpling is the newest to our roster. Her previous family found that they didn’t have time for her any longer, but thankfully WE do! After spending a little time decompressing with the RTR team, we will help her work through her leash anxiety in preparation for her next home. This lady will be up for foster or adoption very soon so be sure to check back in on this sweet face for more updates…

WORD ON THE STREET

ONE OF REAL TIME RESCUE’S BIGGEST GOALS IS TO KEEP ANIMALS IN THEIR HOMES, WITH THEIR FAMILIES & OUT OF THE SHELTER BY PROVIDING RESOURCES DIRECTLY TO THOSE IN NEED by way of our Word on the Street (WOTS) program.

Meet CHIQUITA. She is 10 years old and lives outdoors near a freeway underpass with her Mama who has loved her since puppyhood. A lot of folks that share this encampment also rely on Chiquita for companionship and protection. Unfortunately this beauty had a large growth on her mouth that was leading to trouble eating, drinking and closing her mouth.

The good news from our trusted vet at Anaheim Animal Care was that the tumor was not wrapped around her jaw and therefore removable. The bad news was that it was growing quickly and Chiquita’s kidney levels were not good. If we waited any longer to proceed, her kidney levels could worsen and disqualify her as a candidate for surgery. Additionally, we were told the tumor would continue to grow until Chiquita could simply no longer eat or drink at all. We left the final decision on how to proceed with her Mom, who we knew was afraid to lose her, and were relieved when she consented to the procedure which we covered in full at a cost of $1681.96. Chiquita handled surgery like a champ and her Mom is incredibly grateful for everyone who donated to support a chance for her girl to live pain free! Moving forward RTR will continue to monitor Chiquita’s kidney issues and support her with prescription food and the medication needed to help keep her healthy in her senior years.

We LOVE Morongo Basin Humane Society!

About a month after rescuing MOOSE from his previous life of being chained to a tree 24/7, his original family reached out for help after someone dumped a dog on their property. We knew this family had no means to take care of RAMBO, who was now occupying Moose’s original spot under the tree out back. But with our boy Moose still boarding at a cost of $22 a day and no foster home in sight for either of them, it was time to get creative with our resources and network…

Enter our longtime friends at MORONGO BASIN HUMANE SOCIETY! This no-kill shelter is located in the Joshua Tree area and staffed by the best, most dedicated humans. Not only can we personally attest to their high standards of cleanliness and care, but RTR Founder Seana Cormack lives nearby and will be checking in on this bouncy boy until he is ADOPTED!

After securing a spot at MBHS, we sponsored a full medical checkup for Rambo including a blood panel, fecal test, vaccines, neuter and a deep ear cleaning plus cytology. His ears were black with dirt inside and infected, but now on the mend.

Of course going to the shelter is not our first hope for any of the dogs that cross our path, but we are truly thankful to have been able to find a way to get Rambo out of the 100 degree heat and ash filled air in which we found him and into an environment where someone will monitor his ear infections and work to find him a forever home.

Rambo is a reminder that we cannot rescue these forgotten & inherently good dogs without our team of donors & community partners! We promise an update when this bestest boy finds his forever home. If you think that should be with you, CLICK HERE!

To say last month was HOT would be an understatement, so we jumped at the chance to team up with Blooming Culture and Arrfscarf during one of LA’s latest heat waves to provide CBD dog ice cream to the pups living with their people outdoors in and around the Downtown area. Let’s just say they were very enthusiastic about this frozen treat on such a hot day.
We were happy for a chance to make some new friends and check in on a couple familiar faces including fan favorites Gordo, Princess and D.O.G!
