HONEY is the 3rd of Real Time Rescue’s Original 5 to be ADOPTED! Over the past year, this beautiful girl has built herself a DREAM TEAM that remained totally committed to her behavioral rehabilitation and overall needs through not only tail surgery (so graciously sponsored by Tazzy Fund) but also the weaning off of both anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications. It was truly only through the absolute patience, complete respect, combined strength and sheer determination of the awesome couple who stepped up to foster her that this transformation was able to take place. We knew early on that these were her people, but we’re elated it is now OFFICIAL. Happy Life Honey Bunny! |

GRIZZLY is staying put with his Foster Fam! This sweet boy is the last of our 29 Palms Pack to find a home! Grizzly was the most shut-down of the bunch, so we relied heavily on his foster family to help him ease into a new life. Knowing it might be awhile before he was officially ready to move on, we were heartened to hear he was getting more comfortable and confident as he settled in. We also could tell he was starting to work his magic on his new family, so weren’t too surprised when they called and said they couldn’t part with him! |

BONZO the English Bulldog is the newest member of the RTR pack and we are charmed by this little rascal and his hot bod. He was surrendered to RTR instead of the shelter after concerns that his rambunctious play style could prove harmful to the other dog in the home, an older ailing Frenchie. Although considered a senior himself at 8 years old, Bonzo is in great health, very active and playful! In true bulldog form, he also enjoys long naps in soft beds and is a champ in his crate. We’re excited to see where the future takes this bright boy after decompressing in his foster home. Check back HERE for updates! |

HELP! MOOSE NEEDS A FOSTER!

We were introduced to 10yo MOOSE after looking into a message received about a dog in need that was seen chained to a car. He was actually chained to a tree with very little room to move, covered in flies with severe fly strike on both ears. Although he clearly needed our help, he did have an owner. After talking with them about what we could offer him in terms a new life, they gladly surrendered him. So after living 24/7/365 with chickens as his main companions, we're happy to say he is on his way to better days.

As a dog that has lived strictly outdoors with very little human attention and no dog socialization for ten years, we at RTR recognize that his next home will be asked to patiently guide him into this next phase of his life. He is VERY strong and only beginning to know what it means to walk on a leash. He will need to be an only dog with a solid routine to conquer potty training. And we’re looking for someone that understands that for this sweet, mellow guy, human touch, companionship and exchanging of affections is all brand new and still a little awkward.

WORD ON THE STREET to the RESCUE
|

ONE OF REAL TIME RESCUE’S BIGGEST GOALS IS TO KEEP ANIMALS IN THEIR HOMES, WITH THEIR FAMILIES & OUT OF THE SHELTER BY PROVIDING RESOURCES DIRECTLY TO THOSE IN NEED by way of our Word on the Street (WOTS) program. In the first few days of AUGUST we received a panicked call from a Los Angeles based homeless encampment familiar to us from previous outreach. A man unknown to the folks living there had just come through with an off-leash Pomeranian, and a 14” knife. All dogs living in this encampment were on leash at the time, including two Pitbulls, Mama and her daughter PRINCESS, pictured below.

Unsurprisingly all of the dogs living there were reactive to the little dog wandering around their space uninvited. We want to be clear in the telling of this that what happened next was absolutely unprovoked. Mama and Princess grew more agitated and continued to bark as the still unidentified man and his dog approached them, at which point he violently stabbed both dogs before threatening their owner as he attempted to intervene to save his dogs’ lives. We’re very saddened to say that as a result of Mama doing her best to protect Princess, she sustained the worst of the attack and did not survive. However, we were able to rush Princess to MASH who thankfully stitched her deep shoulder wound and allowed for her release the same day. Jacqueline Norvell of Brown Bag Lady, who has a trusted relationship with Princess’ owner through months of weekly meal service in the area, opened her doors to allow Princess to recuperate indoors. She lovingly took care of her wounds and hand fed this traumatized girl throughout the next two weeks. Once her stitches were fully dissolved we sponsored a spa treatment with Best Friends Grooming and returned her to her Papa. Their reunion is worth watching- FIND IT HERE!
