JESSIE GIRL

FOLLOW HER NEW LIFE & ADVENTURES!

————————————————————————————————————————————-
Jessie is a 7 year old, 52 lb American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is both Deaf and Blind. But don’t think for a second that either of these disabilities inhibit her from living a full, happy life! She is the smartest, most resilient and sassiest little dog we know!

Jessie was rescued by RTR in December of 2019 after one of our board members spotted her at The Barstow Humane Society while dropping off donations. There Jessie was, alone in her outdoor kennel, left to brave the elements, for TWO YEARS! We couldn’t believe that no one had shown any interest in her at all. As soon as we knew of her existence, we developed a plan to liberate her from the shelter.  After securing a loving foster home for her, we started to work on her medical needs. The most important medical issue was her eyes. You can tell from her first pictures that her right eye was protruding and ultimately causing her an extreme amount of pain. Because she could not see out of either eye, her surgeon made the decision to remove both.

Now that Jessie has fully recovered from her surgery, we are starting to see even more of her adorable personality. Pain-free, she is a whole new dog! Jessie loves to play with her toys, sit in the sunshine and cuddle- oh boy, does she love a good lap cuddle session! Jessie is now a fully medically-cleared, healthy and happy dog. Jessie gets along with other calm dogs and children that respect her space. She is potty trained and knows how to let herself out the door, or will go and sit by the door to let you know it’s her time to go. She would do best in a home with minimal to no stairs and a backyard that would have easy access for her to sunbathe and potty on her own, as she is quite independent! Jessie is crate trained and able to easily take a snooze in there, if needed to be left alone. She enjoys short walks outside on a leash and will need someone who is patient with her as she learns her way around. Jessie would be a bright addition to a home willing to help her feel safe by giving her a routine she can rely on!
